Breakfasts

The next monthly breakfast at the Herrickville Fire Hall will be the Hunters’ Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 7 to 11 a.m. Menu: pancakes, ham, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, real maple and sugarfree syrup, coffee and orange juice. $7.50 for adults; $3.50 children up to 12 and preschool, free.

Christmas Events

Holiday Shopping Extravaganza on Sunday, Nov. 17 from noon until 3:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 42, Towanda.

Holiday Vendor Blender, Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Parish House, Main St., LeRaysville. Various vendors will have items on display for all your shopping needs. Guaranteed to find something for everyone on your list. Lunch will also be available. Eat in or take it home.

Gingerbread house party on Dec. 6 at the South Auburn Grange Hall. Please bring your candies for decorations. Party starts at 7 p.m.

Christmas Carol Sing and Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Hope Baptist Church, 229 Hiduk Road, Wyalusing. Buffet line opens at 5:45, hymn sing to start at 7 p.m. Please RSVP to 570-746-9064.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be coming to town aboard Wyalusing’s vintage 1939 fire engine to take part in the community’s annual Christmas tree lighting on Friday, November 29th at 6:30 p.m. The Wyalusing Adult Band, under the direction of Bob Shumway, will provide accompaniment for singing Christmas Carols. After the tree lighting, Santa will lead a procession to the Tuscarora Wayne Community Room on Main Street where he and Mrs. Claus will greet children and pose for photos. The evening includes many kid-friendly activities, along with cookies and hot chocolate provided by the Wyalusing Hotel. Wyalusing’s community Christmas tree lighting is co sponsored by the Wyalusing Rainbow Club and the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce.

The Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce will host its fifth annual tea party on Sunday, December 1. Sponsored by the Memorial Hospital Pediatric Therapy Clinic, the tea party will feature a fairy theme and will be held in the Tuscarora Wayne Community Room at 20 Main Street, Wyalusing at noon. Little girls and ladies, young and old, are invited to dress up and enjoy snacks, dessert, tea and lemonade served on china and in teacups. Tickets are available now by calling 570-746-4922 and leaving a message. Tickets for adults are $10.00 each; tickets for children 12 and under are $8.00 each. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

Dances

Round and Square Dance will be held at the Wysox Fire Hall, Saturday, Nov. 16, 7 until 11 p.m. Music by Sara. Refreshments available. Benefit Wysox Fire Company.

Dinners

Free soup suppers are back at Hollenback United Methodist Church. They will be held on Nov. 13 and Dec. 11. The suppers will be from 5 to 6 p.m. with a Bible Study from 4:30 until 5. All welcome.

The WVHS Class of 1951 will meet for lunch on Friday, Nov. 15 at noon at Bishop’s Restaurant in Ulster.

Meatloaf Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 23, 4 to 6 p.m. at VFW 6824, 1468 Haigh’s Pond Road. Cost: $8, children 12 and under, $5. Benefits Auxiliary Relief Fund.

Grief Support Group: Jan.- Dec. 2013. A bereavement support group meets monthly, the last Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. This group is open to those who have experienced loss and is facilitated by Trudy Ventello, LSW, a social worker with Memorial Hospital’s Hospice program. The Camptown Civic Club will hold their meeting on Nov. 19 at the home of Marilyn Young on Totem Lake, beginning at 7 p.m. (Please note change of time.) Caregivers’ Support Group sponsored by the Law Office of Leslie Wizelman and the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging meets at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Library at Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home in Towanda. Anyone taking care of a family member or loved one, be it at home or as a resident of a long term care facility welcome. Towanda Area Senior Citizens will have their Christmas banquet on Thursday, Dec. 5 at noon in Ferguson hall, Wysox Presbyterian Church.
