Joseph C. Taylor, Jr., 91, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. He was the husband of Myra L. Bates, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1943. Joseph was born June 29, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of Joseph Clisbe, Sr. and Isabel Howe Taylor.
He was employed at Ingersoll Rand as a mechanical assembler. Joseph was an accomplished woodworker; he enjoyed making clocks, caning chairs and traveling. He attended the Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife, Myra L. Taylor of Wellsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Taylor (Dee) of Jacksonville, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Taylor (Hilda) of Owego, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Trudi Dirks (John) of Ontario, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Mark Taylor (Nancy) of Wellsboro; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and sister, Doris VanCott of New Milford. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Michael Dirks.
Friends and family are invited to attend Joseph’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Draper Baptist Church, 22 Draper Rd., Wellsboro, with Pastor Ron Hagy officiating.
