Sherry Mae (Magee) Christman Shelton, 73, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at her home in Richmond, VA. She was born Oct. 30, 1939 in New Albany and grew up there. She attended New Albany and Wyalusing. She graduated in 1957 with the first graduating class of the New Albany- Wyalusing consolidation. Sherry moved to Tennessee, then to Virginia where she continued her life as a wonderful mother, loving wife and loyal employee of the state of Virginia at Richmond until retiring.
She was a warm, caring daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece and friend and was loved by all.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Tom Shelton at home in Richmond; daughter, Lisa (Robert) Christman Buckner; granddaughter, Jordon; grandson, Joshua of Jefferson, GA, and stepchildren, Michael
(Susan) Shelton and Susan Pleasant of Richmond, VA; sisters, Jeanette (Darrell) Bown of Troy, Joan (Robert) Woodhead of Forksville, Carol (Bedford) and Jake LeVan of Muncy and brother, James (King) and Ruth Magee of New Albany; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and lifelong friends, Loretta and Joe Pedro of Hughesville.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Jessie (King) Magee of New Albany; infant daughter, Vicky; sister, Sally VerBryck Lujeski of New Albany and brother-in-law, Kenneth Bedford of New Albany.
Memorial services will be held at the New Albany Methodist Church on Rt. 220 on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. with a dinner to follow.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.
