Herrickville Hunters’ Breakfast, Sunday, Dec. 1, 7 to 11 a.m. All-you-can-eat menu includes pancakes, ham, sausage, eggs, coffee, orange juice and real maple syrup. Adults: $7.50; children to 12, $3.50; preschool, free. Gun raffle drawing at 11 a.m. Benefit: Herrick Twp. Vol. Fire Co.

Hunters’ Breakfast, Sunday, Dec. 1, 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Northeast Bradford Memorial VFW #6824 on Haigh’s Pond Road. Pancakes, real maple syrup, biscuits and sausage gravy, sausage and eggs, juice and coffee. Donation at door.

Christmas Events

Gingerbread house party on Dec. 6 at the South Auburn Grange Hall. Please bring your candies for decorations. Party starts at 7 p.m.

Christmas Carol Sing and Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Hope Baptist Church, 229 Hiduk Road, Wyalusing. Buffet line opens at 5:45, hymn sing to start at 7 p.m. Please RSVP to 570-746-9064.

The Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce will host its fifth annual tea party on Sunday, December 1. Sponsored by the Memorial Hospital Pediatric Therapy Clinic, the tea party will feature a fairy theme and will be held in the Tuscarora Wayne Community Room at 20 Main Street, Wyalusing at noon. Little girls and ladies, young and old, are invited to dress up and enjoy snacks, dessert, tea and lemonade served on china and in teacups. Tickets are available now by calling 570-746-4922 and leaving a message. Tickets for adults are $10.00 each; tickets for children 12 and under are $8.00 each. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be coming to town aboard Wyalusing’s vintage 1939 fire engine to take part in the community’s annual Christmas tree lighting on Friday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. The Wyalusing Adult Band, under the direction of Bob Shumway and Larry Gehring, will provide accompaniment for singing Christmas Carols. After the tree lighting, Santa will lead a procession to the Tuscarora Wayne Community Room on Main Street where he and Mrs. Claus will greet children and pose for photos. The evening includes many kid-friendly activities, along with cookies and hot chocolate provided by the Wyalusing Hotel. Wyalusing’s community Christmas tree lighting is cosponsored by the Wyalusing Rainbow Club and the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce.

The Montrose Community Chorale will present their annual program on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Montrose Area High School, under the direction of David Andre, accompanied by Kristen Burkhardt. Special guests are Mountain Aire Bass group.

The 56th Annual Vesper Service will be held at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church on Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. The choir will offer several selections proclaiming the anticipated birth of the Christ Child. There will be solos, duets and trios, along with some instrumentals.

Sweets with Santa, Wilmot Fire Co., Inc., Sugar Run on Dec. 8, 1 to 3 p.m. Have your camera ready to take that traditional holiday photo of your child with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Donation of $4 per person will include an assortment of various sweets and beverages of hot chocolate, coffee, hot tea and milk.

Hometown Holiday Party, New Year’s Eve. Plans are underway by the chamber (GWCC) to create another memorable evening. Increasingly popular, tickets are on sale now at the chamber office at 20 Main St., Wyalusing and will be limited in number. Starting at 6:30 with a social time including assorted hors d’oeuvres. Full course meal by “Catering the Wright Way” and dancing with the popular DJ “All About Entertainment.” BYOB, $35/person.

New Albany Community Tree Lighting will be held on Dec. 1 at the United Methodist Church grounds at 2:30 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides for caroling around town, singing, campfire to make s’mores and hot chocolate for all.

Festival of Crafts, Saturday, Dec. 7 at Laceyville Fire Hall, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Large variety of vendors. Great gift ideas. Shop local. Raffle and food available.

The cantata, “Bethlehem’s Child” will be presented on Dec. 15 by the combined choirs of the Trinity Charge of the United Methodist Church (Monroeton, New Albany and Ulster) at 10 a.m. in the Monroeton church.

The Tunkhannock Lions Club will be providing hot chocolate during the Christmas in Our Home Town in Tunkhannock on Dec. 6 and 7 near the corner of East Tioga and Pine Streets. The club will be collecting used eyeglasses also.

Tunkhannock Public Library Annual Christmas Show on Sat., Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in Tunkhannock High School. A project of Taylor Burnham, WVHS senior and Melissa Walker and Sommer Gaydos, TAHS seniors. Tickets available at the library, Greenwood’s Furniture, Community Chorus members and at the door. Adults, $8; seniors and children, 12 and under, $6.

New Albany Area Children’s Fund will host a Christmas party on Dec. 14 from noon to 3 p.m. at the New Albany Social Hall. All children from preschool to sixth grade are welcome to attend and enjoy a funfilled afternoon with music, games, gifts, Santa and horse and wagon rides.

Laceyville’s Oldest House Annual Christmas Tea will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 4 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 8, noon to 5 p.m. Decorations provided by Kintner’s Country Collection of Laceyville and Fine Country Living Primitives of Springville. Christmas Cookies, Tea and Hot Cider.

Pictures with Santa on Dec. 10, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oldest House, Main St., Laceyville. Cost: $2. Sponsored by Laceyville Business Association.

Stevensville Christmas Party with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Community Hall. Visit Santa, do some crafts and enjoy refreshments.

Church

December Vesper Service on December 1 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Montrose. Simple supper served afterward in the Parish House.

The Skyline Boys, a wellknown Southern Gospel group will be in concert on Dec. 8 at the New Albany United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. They will present their Christmas concert.

New Albany United Methodist Sunday School Christmas program will be held Dec. 8 during 11:30 a.m. worship service. All are welcome.

The Wysox Presbyterian Church will hold a Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. in Ferguson Hall. A light supper of soup, sandwiches, Jell-O and desserts will be served followed by a special service with Pastor Jira Albers.

A bereavement support group meets monthly, the last Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. This group is open to those who have experienced loss and is facilitated by Trudy Ventello, LSW, a social worker with Memorial Hospital’s Hospice program. Holiday Grief Seminar - The Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, Tunkhannock is sponsoring a seminar, Dealing with Grief at Christmas on Monday evening, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at the church. This program is designed to help individuals who are grieving meet the challenges of the season. Anyone who is grieving or wants to learn how to help a loved one or friend who is grieving, is invited to attend this free program. Light refreshments will be served.
