Carmen R. (Ford) Hight, 88, of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Born in Bradford County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Zella (Conrad) Ford. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Harold D. Hight of Quarryville.
Carmen graduated from Camptown High School. She went on to receive her nursing degree from Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington. She worked as a nurse in various parts of the country as she traveled alongside her husband, who was in the ministry. The Hights moved to Quarryville in 1987, where Carmen continued nursing until her retirement in 2007 at the age of 82.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children: L. Kim (Diane) of Wilmington, DE, Leilani Napp (Larry) of Portage, MI, Sharon Wheeles (Ben) of Scottsburg, IN, Rejean McGalliard (Mike) of Fort Myers, FL and Loralee Holiman (Bill) of Virginia Beach, VA; 14 grandchildren and
20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother,
Norman Ford and a sister, Charlotte
Billings. She was preceded in death by siblings, Calvin, Erwin and
Funeral services will be held at the Rushville Presbyterian
Church, State Route 706, Rushville, on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. with Commander William Holiman, USN, officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
