Regina Pierson, 80, of Rush, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. She was born on Sept. 19, 1933 in Lawton to the late Floyd L. and Ethel C. (Younker) Ace. Her husband of 59 years, Charles Pierson, survives.
Also surviving are her four children and their spouses, Colleen and Karl Gesford of Dimock, Maureen Pierson and Karla Amburgey of Moorestown, NJ, Kevin and Melanie Pierson of Rush and Shelley and Donald Hohn of Brackney; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Jessica Pierson of Moscow, Hilary and Glenn Brewer of Belmont, NC, John Pierson and fiancée, Katherine Lucenti of Rush, Joshua and Brenna Gesford of York, Kristin Hohn of Liverpool, NY, Matthew Hohn of Brackney and Kody Amburgey of Moorestown, NJ; four great-grandchildren, Jillian Gesford, Jacob and Isabelle Pierson and Calvin Brewer; sister, Lucy Keeney; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janet Ace, Esther Brink, Phyllis and James Flick and Robert Montross, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Elsie McMicken and brother, Alan Ace.
Regina worked as a bookkeeper until her marriage to Charlie in June of 1954, then she devoted her life to raising her children, helping to manage the family farm and service through the church. She was a member of the East Rush United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She held multiple offices and could always be seen quietly working to support every church function. She enjoyed reading, baking, crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her family. Her grandchildren adored her, and she was their biggest fan, faithfully attending their baseball, basketball and soccer games, concerts and other events. She joyfully welcomed her little great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Spering of the Kingsley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the East Rush Cemetery. Friends called on the family on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
