Born on Nov. 17, 1921 in Noxen, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rachel Foote Altemose. She was married to Gerald T. (Gerry) Knolles until his death in 1978.
She had three siblings who preceded her in death; her sister, Letha Trowbridge and two brothers, Charles Altemose and Earl Altemose. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Dawn R. Knolles in 2006; a granddaughter, Felicia Coburn Reese in 2009 and a grandson, Jason T. Oliver in 2011.
While living in the Wyalusing area, IdaBelle worked in local dress factories, but spent most of her time as a homemaker and mother. She was a wonderful cook and truly enjoyed sewing. She made many of her daughters’ clothes and prom dresses. In her later years, she enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves on television and spending time with her family. She was the proud grandmother of 24 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren and nine great-greatgrandchildren.
IdaBelle is survived by her companion of more than 30 years, David White of Cordele, GA; her children, Joyce Christmas of Cordele, GA; Delores (Mark) VanDeMark of Cordele, GA; Gary (Sandy) Galloway of Cocoa Beach, FL; Gail Parks (Joe Keringer) of St. Augustine, FL; Irene (Robert) Oliver of Wyalusing; Marcia (Robert) Vaskas of Kaiserville, and Debbie Knolles Walker of Wysox. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Edith M. Altemose of Hughestown and Ruth W. Altemose of Wilmot and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hughes and Wright Funeral Home, Cordele, GA. Local services will be held at a later date at the Wyalusing Cemetery.
