Duane Taylor

Duane A. Taylor, 42, of Herrickville, PA, passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 24, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, with his loving wife and family at his side.

Born on April 19, 1971 in Towanda, PA, he was a son of the late Ralph W. Taylor and Vivian Wright Harbst. He married the former Carrie Sue Mosier on Sept. 8, 2012 after 10 years of dating each other.

Duane graduated from Wyalusing Valley Jr./Sr. High School, a member of the Class of 1990. After graduation he worked on neighboring farms around Herrickville and also worked at the former Jersey Engine Rebuilders in West Warren. He then later worked at J & J Sales and Bluhm’s Shopping Center.

He attended CR England Truck Driving School in Salt Lake City, UT, and received his CDL from there. He drove truck for several local companies, with his wife, Sue, beside him, including Miller’s Automotive of Dushore, Gardner Trucking of Roaring Branch, Midwest Auto Transport of Clyde, OH, Motor Corp. Transportation of Oberlin, OH, and Wyalusing Transport of LeRaysville.

He enjoyed collecting scrap with his dad, Ralph and he loved fixing tractors, trucks and cars in his garage with his dad also. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. Duane and Sue always looked forward to their yearly trips to the beach.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie Sue Taylor at home; four daughters, Jessica (Kyle) Netherton of Rome, Candy Taylor of Castle Creek, NY, Megan Taylor of Castle Creek, NY, and Terry Taylor of Castle Creek, NY; mother and stepfather, Vivian (Joseph) Harbst of Chemung, NY; two grandchildren, Aubrey Netherton and Kyle Netherton, Jr., both of Rome; two brothers, Ralph (Doreen) Taylor of New Albany and Donald (Debra) Taylor of Wyalusing; sister, Teresa (Chet) Brown of Ridgeway, SC; fatherin law, Norris Mosier of Sugar Run; brother-in-laws, Norris Mosier Jr. of Wyalusing, Timothy Mosier of Jenningsville, Dennis Mosier of Quicks Bend and Gary Mosier of Quicks Bend; sister-in-law, Laurie Mosier of Towanda and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph W. Taylor on Feb. 20, 2014; his mother-in-law, Julia Ann “Judy” Mosier on Feb. 14, 2013 and two nephews, Ralph “Bucky” Taylor and Austin Jordan Cook.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at the Herrickville United Methodist Church, Herrickville, with Rev. William L. Westbrook, Sr. and Rev. Dale L. Russell coofficiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Herrickville Fire Company, 6149 Herrickville Road, Wyalusing, PA 18853 or to the H.O.P.S. Ambulance Association, c/o James W. Seipler, 606 Ridge Road, Rome, PA, 18837.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing.
