Mary Jones Mary Jones Mary Jones, 94, of Stevensville, PA, passed away on Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, 2014 at her home.

Born on Oct. 10, 1919 in Port Blanchard, PA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Cassie Moleski Yanuicz.

Mary graduated from Camptown High School, a member of the Class of 1939. After graduation she worked at Devine’s Diner in Rushville, where she met her future husband, Darwin Jones, who was working in the auto shop adjacent to the diner. They were married on June 13, 1942. Soon after being married, Darwin was drafted into the Army Air Corps. After returning from the Air Corps, they moved to Stevensville, where she resided until her passing.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. She was a member of the Stevensville Community Club and the Stevensville Sewing Circle. Mary was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6824 Ladies Auxiliary.

She loved gardening and she could get almost anything to grow. In addition to planting and caring for her own flowers and garden, she managed and maintained the flowers and landscaping at St. Mary’s Church in Wyalusing. She liked to sew, crochet and quilt. For the last 20+ years, she made and donated lap robes for people who were sick.

Surviving are her son, Joseph D.

Stevensville; brother, William Yanavitch of Waverly, NY; sister, Catheryn Randall of Stevensville; sisters-inlaw, Martha Yanavitch of Stevensville and Josephine Jones of Rock Stream, NY. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Darwin Jones in 1990; a daughter, Ann Marie Jones; two brothers, Anthony Yanavitch and Joseph Yanavitch, and sister, Anna Bagdon.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, Wyalusing, with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, her pastor, presiding. Interment was in the Camptown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Building Fund, 245 State Street, Wyalusing, PA 18853.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing.
