Norrine W. Perkins of Charlottesville, VA, went to join her husband Alec, in the arms of their Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
Born in Rushville, PA on Dec. 4, 1926, she was the only child of the late Dwight and Betsy Williams. After graduating from what was then Mansfield State Teacher’s College, her teaching career spanned 25 years, beginning in a one-room schoolhouse near Rushville and ending as a kindergarten teacher in Plainfield, PA. She also spent a year teaching in France on a U.S. Army base. She enjoyed teaching and even after she and Alec retired to Lake Monticello, VA to live near her daughter and family, she often substituted in the local school system. She took particular pleasure in substituting in the classrooms of her grandchildren.
Other passions in Norrine’s life included being an active member of Aldersgate Methodist Church and Our Lady of Peace Retirement Community, where she made her home. She loved walking to the mall, shopping, reading and traveling. She especially loved visiting her son’s family in Lancaster, where she enjoyed the antics of “her little ones.”
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl P. Daidone and husband, Steve and their four children, Reed Davis and wife Mona, Christopher and wife Emily, Michael and Elizabeth Daidone; her son, Ronn Perkins and his wife, Lavinnia and their three children, James, William and Hannah, as well as five greatgrandchildren, Donny, Delaney and Chandler Davis and Madison and Sophia Daidone.
Norrine loved her God, her children and her grandchildren with all her heart, and she will be greatly missed by her family.
A memorial service will take place at Aldersgate Methodist Church, Charlottesville VA, on April 5 at 2 p.m. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Leukemia Society, The American Cancer Society or Aldersgate Methodist Church, Charlottesville, VA.
