Ricky M. Smith, 58, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. He was born in Binghamton, NY, to the late Sylvia A. Porter, and the late Max E. Smith, Jr. His wife of 35 years, Brenda (Goble) Smith survives.
He is also survived by his stepmother, Phyllis Smith of Montrose; brother and sister-inlaw, Jeffrey R., Sr. and Pat Smith of Nicholson; aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Ron and LouAnn Kiefer. He was predeceased by his uncle and aunt, Ted and Lucille Daly and his special dog, Dusty.
Ricky was a 1973 graduate of Montrose High School. He owned and drove his own dump truck, and in the 70s he drove for Louden Hill Farm. At one time, he hauled milk for Herbie Gleason. He enjoyed collecting trucks and tractors, and he loved the vacations he and his wife took to Florida during Christmas. The most important part of Ricky’s life was the time he spent with his wife, Brenda.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, with Pastor Lori Robinson of the Dalton and Factoryville United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment will be in the Rush Center Memorial Park, Rush Township. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. prior to the service.
