Barbara J. Rauch, 71, of South Montrose, PA, passed away at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 10, 1942, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Washburn) Silver. Her husband of 20 years, Charles R. Rauch, survives.
Also surviving are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and James Baker of Montrose, Terry and Carl Benscoter of Laceyville and Sue Hitchcock of Montrose; four sons and daughters-in-law, Vern Hitchcock of Dimock, Will and Amy Hitchcock of Montrose, Dean and Melissa Hitchcock of Montrose, Greg and Casey Hitchcock of Springville; two brothers and sister-in-law, Tony and Diane Silver of Hallstead and Bill Silver of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two sisters, Virginia Gellatt of Tennessee and Ruth Whinney of New York; brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken and Carol Rauch of Montrose and Debbie and Bill
Lawrence of Montrose; 13 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Wheeler and Jean Abrams.
Barbara was a Master Gardner. She enjoyed knitting, playing Bingo, swimming, reading, traveling, cake decorating, crossword puzzles and going to the casino. She used to race stock cars on the ice at Leisure Lake. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, with Pastor Ethan Morrison and Pastor Larry Potter of the Bridgewater Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Brookdale Cemetery. Visitations were from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
