Mrs. Pauline “Peggy” Ruth Bennett, 88, Wyalusing Township resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Bradford County Manor in Burlington Township, PA.
Born on Oct. 1, 1925 in Rushville, she was a daughter of the late Fay N. and Emma Edwards Shaner. She graduated from the Rush High School and married Clifton Bennett of Stoney Point on Oct. 9, 1944. He predeceased her on Jan. 5, 2006. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with the kids. She enjoyed helping others, whether it be cooking for church dinners or sending cards to lift people’s spirits. She loved spending time outdoors, planting flowers, gardening and doing work around the yard. Peggy liked going for rides in the fall and taking in all of the beautiful foliage. She would always put the needs of others in front of her own, her loving and caring nature was evident to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She attended the Herrickville Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Charlene) Bennett of Sugar Run and David F. Bennett of East Stroudsburg; two daughters, Sharon Iskowitz of East Stroudsburg and Barbara (Anthony) Rockwell of Spring Lake; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Bennett; two sisters, Arlene Schiappa and Helen Smith and a brother, John Shaner.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at Peggy’s request and are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing.
The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to the Herrickville Wesleyan Church, 127 Lent Road, Wyalusing, PA 18853.
