Spaghetti Dinner Benefit for John Brown of Laceyville, who lost everything in a house fire on March 27. Looking for donations of: Baskets for raffle, auction items, food for dinner (spaghetti, sauce, bread, salad), drinks (water, soda, juice, beer), paper products (cups, plates, napkins, silverware); Bake sale items. Motorcycle Run: May 31, Laceyville Fire Hall. Registration, 9 to 11 a.m. Ride leaves at 11:30. Fee is $20 rider and $10 passenger. Lunch served after run. Run is approx. 100 miles. Julie (Frisbie) Bostwick Benefit on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VFW, Lockhart St., Sayre with drawings at 4 p.m. Do not need to be present to win. Winners will be contacted. Monthly Breakfast at the Herrickville Fire Hall, Sunday, May 25 2014, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. All you can eat: pancakes, French toast, ham, sausage, eggs, home fries, sausage gravy and biscuits, coffee, orange juice, real maple syrup and sugar-free syrup. Clam Bakes

Knights of Columbus Clam Bake, Saturday, June 14. Donation of $25 per ticket includes 6 doz. clams, steak or sausage sandwich, beer and soda. Served from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Francis Pavilion, Mildred. Classes

The Faithful Feet Clogging Team, sponsored by Harvest House Community Fellowship Church, will start a free beginner clogging class on June 7 at 10 a.m. Classes are held at the Sheshequin Ulster Recreation Center. Dinners

Annual Old Home Day chicken and biscuit dinner Saturday, May 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Era UM Church on Rienze Road. Adults, $8; 12 and under, $3; preschool, free. Bazaar and bake sale. Benefit new furnace fund.

An Amish Benefit Dinner will be held at the Warren Center Community Building on Friday, May 23 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Donations at the door. Menu: Chicken, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli salad. Pie and ice cream for dessert. This will benefit Ammon and Idamae Yoders’ hospital expenses. A Silent Auction will also be held.

Festivals

Annual Strawberry Festival and Chicken Barbecue on Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. to ? Vendors, silent auction, white elephant table. Chicken dinners or halves including strawberry shortcake. Dinners: Adults, $9; 5 to 8 years, $5; preschoolers are free. Halves available for $5. Springville UM Church, off Rt. 29, between Tunkhannock and Montrose.

Public Election for reinstatement of Bradford County Common Law Grand Jury meeting on Saturday, May 24 at the West Burlington Township Building, 13028 Route 6, West Burlington at 1 p.m. There will be a 35 min. presentation and then a vote by showing of hands. All participants will then be invited to register for the Common Law Grand Jury.

Check on the hive split from Field Day and Henry Street’s demonstration of the Sugar Shake at James Wood Apiary, Lawton on May 24 at 1 p.m.

The Towanda Area Christian Outreach (T.A.C.O.) Food Pantry will be closed, Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. The pantry will reopen Wednesday, May 28 at 10 a.m. For additional information, call 570-265-4422.

Compassionate Friends—of the Endless Mountains will hold their meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Endless Health Community Center, Montrose. TCF is open to all families who have lost a child from any cause at any age. There are no membership dues or fees of any kind. MOPS—(Mothers of Preschoolers) meet every first and third Wed. of the month from 9 to 11 a.m., September through May. Meetings are held at the First Presbyterian Church, 5 Court St., Towanda. Al-Anon meetings in Tunkhannock—Endless Serenity Al-Anon Family Group on Monday, 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, 7 p.m., Saturday, noon. All meetings are held at the Tunkhannock UM Church Education Bldg., second floor.

Memorial Hospital’s monthly bereavement support group schedule for 2014 will continue to meet on the last Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m., located in the library on the lower level of Memorial Hospital, Towanda. The group follows the book by James Miller, What Will Help Me? and other authors’ writings related to grief and loss. The support group is open to those who have experienced loss and is facilitated by Trudy Ventello, LSW, a social worker with Memorial Hospital’s Hospice program. Caregivers’ Support Group sponsored by the Law Office of Leslie Wizelman and the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging meets at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Library at Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home in Towanda. Anyone taking care of a family member or loved one, be it at home or as a resident of a long-term care facility welcome. Sports

The New Albany Area Children’s Fund is hosting the Annual Charlie Wiles Fishing Derby on May 31, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children four to 13 at Behrend-Wiles pond on the Overton Road. This is a free catch and release event and every registered child will receive goody bags, bait, refreshments and a prize.

The WVHS Wrestling Booster Club will meet on June 16 at 6 p.m. in Coach Haley’s room at the high school.

Wanted

Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department is looking for donations of glassware for the dime pitch tent for this year’s carnival. Donations can be left outside the fire hall. Pick-up is available to the elderly and/or disabled by calling 570-721-1265. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

Towanda Elks Lodge is now accepting items for their rummage sale on June 14. All donations can be dropped after 4 p.m. and put in the barbecue pit area. No clothes please.
