Seventy years ago today, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower made the fateful decision to unleash the greatest invasion in history. As the largest naval armada ever assembled embarked with its load of American, British and Canadian troops for the Normandy coast, Eisenhower scribbled a message on a piece of paper.
