New Albany VFW Post #384 will hold its Annual Turtle Race and Chicken Barbecue on Sunday, July 6. Chicken barbecue at noon, turtle registration starts at 11 a.m. for kids 12 and under, race at 1 p.m.

Church

Weird Animals Vacation Bible School hosted at the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church will be held from July 7 to 11, from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Kids from three years old to sixth grade, as well as high school and adult volunteers and special class for adults to attend. Dinners

New Era United Methodist Church community dinner will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 11:30 a.m. Meatloaf dinner. Rienze Road off Wyalusing- New Albany Road.

The WVHS Class of 1951 will meet for lunch at noon on Friday, June 20 at Mark’s Valley View, Laceyville.

Exhibits

The Butternut Gallery and Second Story Books is pleased to present the exhibit Max Henri and Rich Nolan—Paintings and Wooden Creations, opening June 14. Everyone is welcome to the opening reception on June 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibit will continue through July 6 during normal hours, Wednesday through Saturday, 11 to 5. The gallery is located at 204 Church Street, Montrose.

Festivals

Annual Strawberry Festival and Chicken Barbecue on Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. to ? Vendors, silent auction, white elephant table. Chicken dinners or halves including strawberry shortcake. Strawberry Festival - June 19, 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wysox ambulance garage, Rt. 187, South, Wysox. Take-outs will be available along with macaroni salad, sloppy joes, hot dogs and chili dogs, strawberry shortcake, strawberry sundaes, coffee, tea and soda.

Memorial Hospital’s monthly bereavement support group schedule for 2014 will continue to meet on the last Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m., located in the library on the lower level of Memorial Hospital, Towanda. The group follows the book by James Miller, What Will Help Me? and other authors’ writings related to grief and loss. The support group is open to those who have experienced loss and is facilitated by Trudy Ventello, LSW, a social worker with Memorial Hospital’s Hospice program.
