Arlene V. Bennett, 94, a lifelong resident of LeRaysville, PA passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Bradford County Manor. Arlene was born on Oct. 12, 1919 in LeRaysville, a daughter of the late William and Carrie (Goodwin) Devine. She was a graduate of the LeRaysville High School where she participated with the basketball team. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she treasured her family and always looked forward to cooking Sunday meals. Arlene enjoyed spending time in her garden, watching the Yankees, playing cards and being surrounded by those she loved so much.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Curtis and his wife, Jolene Bennett of Elk Lake, Sandra and her husband, Robert Wilmot of Rome, Diane and her husband, Robert Strait of Elk Lake, Sharon and her husband, Robert Brown of Rome, Albie Bennett of Elk Lake, James and his wife, Paula Bennett of Stevensville; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Albert Bennett in 1999; her parents, William and Carrie Devine; brothers, Louis and Guy Devine and an infant sister.
Family and friends attended a period of visitation on Tuesday, July 8 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols, NY. A funeral service and celebration of her life followed at noon. Interment and prayers of committal were held in the Rushville Cemetery.
