Whitney Moore Rockwell, 43, of Herrick Township, PA, passed away Saturday morning, July 19, 2014 at her home following an extended illness.
Born in Sayre, PA on May 2, 1971, she was the daughter of Edwin and Allyson Moore Pipher. She was a graduate of Athens Area High School class of 1989 and later received her Associates Degree in Human Services from Corning Community College. On April 29, 1995, Whitney married San D. Rockwell at the Hornbrook United Methodist Church.
Whitney cherished spending time with her family and was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed volunteering at the Camptown and Wyalusing Elementary Schools and serving as cheerleading advisor for Wyalusing youth football. Whitney also enjoyed traveling, gardening, scrapbooking and caring for her animals.
Surviving are her husband, San D. Rockwell; children, Morgan C. Rockwell and Devin M. Rockwell, all at home; her parents,
Allyson and Ed Pipher of Hornbrook; sister and brotherin law, Lindsay R. and Andrew G. Nixon of Baltimore, MD; nieces, Eliza and Abbey Nixon; nephew, Will Nixon; mother-inlaw and father-in-law, Cam and Guy Rockwell of Ulster; sisterin law and brother-in-law, Heather and Mike Gigliotti of Virginia and nephew, Mickey Gigliotti of Virginia.
A service of remembrance and celebration of Whitney’s life will be held Tuesday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at O’Connor’s recreation pavilion and pond located on Mercur Hill Road in Herrick Township.
