John A. Capwell, 66, of Asylum Township, PA, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Born on Lime Hill, Wyalusing Township, on Jan. 8, 1948, he was the son of Raymond Capwell, Sr. and Olive Clark Capwell.
He attended Wyalusing High School and in early years was employed by Herman Rynveld Sons in New Albany. John was later employed by Hoffman New Yorker in Dushore for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Towanda Gun Club, Asylum VFW Post and the AMVets. He enjoyed small engine repair and camping and was a WWF, NASCAR and Tuff Truck Racing fan. John also enjoyed time spent with friends at his special nephew, Kenny Bob Walter’s Garage in Asylum Township. A caring, loving husband, he will be remembered by many for his winning smile.
Surviving are his wife, Debra Markish Capwell; children, Mary Michaud and husband Russell of Linden, Bobbi Gregory and friend, Todd; stepchildren, Shane Spencer and wife, Dee of Monroeton, Steven Spencer of Mildred, Tammy Bird and husband, Kyle of Dushore; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Angela Benninger and husband, Foster of Rome, Anna Cory of Wyalusing; brothers, Raymond Capwell, Jr. and wife, Karen of Ann Arbor, MI, William Capwell of Warren Center, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Capwell; a sister, Shirley Capwell and stepdaughter, Kay Nolan.
Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.
