Born on March 8, 1929 on the family farm in Evergreen, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rita Hoyt Teeter. She graduated as her class valedictorian of the New Albany High School. She was married to Clifford Allen, who predeceased her in 1951, and Leon Hugo, who predeceased her in 1986.
Leah was a devoted member of the New Albany United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was very active in the community, especially enjoying her service to the New Albany Community Club and the church’s annual rummage sale. Her chief joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Hugo of Norristown, Robert (Eileen) Hugo of Towanda, George (Barbara) Hugo of Wyalusing; four daughters,
Deborah (Larry) Griffith of Little Meadows, Carol (Al) Rosenberger of Athens, Kimberly Hugo of Philadelphia, Paula (Steven) Heeb of Malvern; 16 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, an infant Verna Teeter, Eileen Wells, Donna Parsons Ayers, Bernita Williams and Robert Teeter.
A funeral service will be held on Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, with Pastor Kitty Keller officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, New Albany.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
