Homicide Suspects Denied Bail in Falls Twp. Shooting

Susquehanna Co. Woman Killed in Drug Deal Gone Bad

Two men are being charged with criminal homicide and other offenses following a shooting that occurred in Falls Township on Sunday night, Sept. 10 during what police believe was a drug deal gone wrong.

State police say Micole L. Gumpper, 23, Union Dale (Susquehanna County) and her boyfriend consummated a drug deal with Jesse J. Long, 28, Pittston, at the River Crest housing development off Route 92 in Tunkhannock Township.

Gumpper and her boyfriend reportedly believed the transaction was misrepresented and shorted, at which time they began to follow Long and David A. Bohner, 24, Tunkhannock, who was driving the 2013 Hyundai Sonata sedan.

When they realized they were being followed along Route 92 in Falls Township, Long stepped out of the passenger side of the vehicle and fired several rounds from a handgun at the U-Haul truck being operated by Gumpper’s boyfriend.

One of the shots penetrated the windshield and struck Gumpper in the front of the head as she was seated in the passenger seat.

She was taken to Tyler Memorial Hospital and subsequently airlifted to CMC Hospital in Scranton where she received advanced medical care, but ultimately succumbed to her wound.

Both Long and Bohner are being charged with open counts of criminal homicide and applicable offenses. Bail has been denied for both of the accused.
