In this week’s edition (Nov. 22) of the Rocket-Courier, it was reported that Tyler James Freeman, 20, Aliquippa, formerly of Rome, pleaded guilty to two counts of homicide by vehicle, felonies of the third degree, following a May 24 truck vs. motorcycle crash in Orwell Township.

The Bradford County District Attorney's office has now announced that sentencing for Freeman in the double-fatal case is set for Jan. 15, 2018, at 3:30 p.m., following the preparation of a presentence investigation by the Bradford County Probation Department.

Freeman, who was 19 at the time of the crash and living with his grandparents in Rome, was the driver of the Ford Ranger pickup truck that collided head-on with a motorcycle along Route 187 just before 9 p.m. on May 24, leading to the deaths of David L. Estelle, 48, and Billie Jo Estelle, 42, of Rome, who were headed north along Route 187 on a motorcycle.

Trooper Michael Mogish of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Freeman with the offenses.
