Car Crash Along Rt. 220 Leaves Two Dead

By Rocket Staff

A single-vehicle crash along Route 220 yesterday afternoon, Jan. 29, led to the deaths of two Dushore women, according to state police.

Around 12:30 p.m., Amanda L. Connell, 31, and Josie L. Burnet, 32, were traveling south through Albany Township in a 1987 Plymouth Caravelle when Connell reportedly failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway.

The sedan traveled onto the southbound shoulder as Connell attempted to regain control of it. The state police report suggests Connell overcorrected, causing the car to proceed into the opposing lane of travel.

The car subsequently went off the northbound shoulder and down an embankment where it struck a rock on private property, causing the car to overturn. The vehicle came to a final rest on its roof facing south.

Scanner reports indicated an ejection occurred during the crash.
