Mary Moran

January 5, 2019

Mary Moran Mary Moran Mary Moran, 86, of Johnson City, NY, passed away at her home with her family at her side on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. She was born in Binghamton, NY, to the late Carl E. and Iona P. (Stanton) Coleman. Her husband, Edward J. Moran, predeceased her in 1972.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Janet and Alan Saravitz, Elizabeth and Marty Edsell, Mary Lou and Jim Harasymczuk, Joe and Joelle Moran, Bonnie and Paul Kacmar and Tom and Olga Moran; 13 grandchildren and spouses, Alan, Molly (Dustin), Erica (Emily), Calecia (Jeff), Becky (Jeff), Ben (Brynna), Breannan, Ariel, Cheyenne, Allyson, Christopher, Camille and Danielle; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Liam, Oliver and Eli; three sisters, Joan Edsell, Shirley Johnson and little sis, Gladys Curtis; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Linda Coleman; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by a special granddaughter, Tabatha Moran.

Mary was raised in LeRaysville, and graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She taught in Athens and Meshoppen until she and Ed started their family. Mary became a stay at home mother to six children. After Ed passed, she went back to work first as a substitute teacher then pursued careers in many other fields. Nobody could have had a better mother, provider, caregiver and role model. She was a strong influence in the lives of each of her children. To know Mary was to know an extraordinary woman—to be raised by her was an even greater honor. She was so very loved by each of them and will be sorely missed. The influence Mary had on each of her children allowed them to all become strong and successful parents themselves. They had such a completely selfless woman to look up to. Her family strongly believes her selflessness is why she chose to go quickly. Once she understood what was happening to her, she was trying to spare her loved ones from suffering as well.

We love you mom.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at St. Francis Xavier, with Rev. Casimir Stanis officiating. Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, 232 South Main Street, Montrose.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory can be made to Hospice at Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
