James McDonald

James B. McDonald, 82, formerly of Dushore, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at Sayre Personal Care Home.

Born Aug. 1, 1936 in Dushore, he was a son of the late John F. and Stella T. (Lech) McDonald.

James served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Loyalsock Post 996, Dushore, and St. Basil’s Church, Dushore.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed working on several local farms. He also enjoyed hunting and walking in his free time.

Surviving are three brothers, Raymond McDonald, Joseph (Joan) McDonald, and Thomas (Karen) McDonald, all of Dushore, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene McDonald and a sister-in-law, Linda McDonald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Basil’s Church, 101 Churchill Street, Dushore, with Rev. Thomas Major officiating. Burial will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans’ organizations. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Legion members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.

The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions to the American Legion Post 996, PO Box 171, Dushore, PA 18614 or the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, PO Box 307, Dushore, PA 18614.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty- Thomas Funeral Home, Dushore.
