Christmas Service Set for December 23 in Hollenback
By David Keeler
It’s being called a Christmas Eve-Eve service, and it will take place on Dec. 23, the evening before Christmas Eve at the Hollenback United Methodist Church.
Pastor Penney Rahm said the special service is being held to accommodate people who are normally traveling on Christmas Eve or have family events scheduled and cannot attend a Christmas Eve service.
The candlelight service, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will include all the elements typically associated with a Christmas Eve service—special music and communion—only the service will take place one day early.
Rev. Rahm invites people of all faiths from throughout the community to take part in this unique service in a lovely country church.
For those who are able to attend traditional Christmas Eve services, Rev. Rahm has scheduled two at Methodist churches in the Wyalusing Charge. The first is at 5 p.m. at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and the second is at 9 p.m. at the Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Both services will be conducted in candlelight and include a choir, with communion at the Spring Hill service. There will not be a Christmas Eve service in Hollenback.
There is one Christmas Day service scheduled for churches in the Wyalusing Charge. That will take place at 11 a.m. at the Spring Hill Church.
