Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow... for a Good Cause

Amanda Jo and Jessica Theresa Kus had good reason to be proud of their long, golden tresses. The sis-ters made the ultimate sacrifice recently by giving up the hair they have to spare to make wigs for children who suffer from medical hair loss, such as chemotherapy treatments for cancer. Five-year-old Jessica wasn't so sure she wanted to be shorn at first, but she gladly gave up a foot of hair for this spe-cial program, "Locks of Love," a nonprofit organization. Eight-year-old Amanda surrendered 10 inches, which was painlessly and carefully removed by hairdresser Kathy Dimon. The girls donated their hair in memory of Kathy's brother, Stanley Ferris. They are the daughters of Barbara Kus, of Dallas, PA, and grandchildren of Sugar Run's Wilbur and Beverly Houck and the late Theresa Kus.
