Herrick Township Man Found Guilty
Ralph Schoonover, III, 38, of Herrick Township, PA, was convicted by a jury of recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor. The trial was held on Aug. 24. Schoonover will be sentenced on Oct. 31, following a pre-sentence investigation by the Bradford County Probation Department.
The offense is punishable by fines and incarceration of up to two years. Trooper Robert Franchella of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Schoonover in January after an incident in Orwell Township. The trooper charged that Schoonover blocked an escort vehicle and an equipment- hauling rig on a state road in Orwell. After the rig driver got out of his vehicle, Schoonover threw him into a ditch, along the road. The fall caused a fractured backbone and the driver needed medical treatment and was off work for one month.
