Man Hides in Box Spring in Meshoppen Home
After a search of the Franklin Street, Meshoppen, premises where Bernard Gillespie, 34, was last known to have been seen, police discovered him hiding in a hollowed-out box spring in a bedroom of the house.
Police say that on April 1 at 1:20 p.m., they executed a warrant on Gillespie, who is from the Williamsport area. Pennsylvania State Police from Montoursville and the Lycoming County Adult Probation both were looking for Gillespie on felony burglary charges and parole violation charges.
On April 1, Gillespie’s girlfriend, Jennifer Dietrick, 33, Muncy, attempted to misdirect and hinder police in their attempts to apprehend Gillespie. She told police he was not at the home in Meshoppen and tried to get them to leave. It is also now apparent that Dietrick knew of Gillespie’s fugitive status and about the warrant for his arrest. She has been charged with hindering apprehension and/or prosecution.
When Gillespie was taken into custody, a small amount of marijuana, a glass smoking device (bong) and hypodermic needles were also seized. Gillespie and Dietrick are both in the Wyoming County Jail. They will both be transferred to Lycoming County after they are charged here in Wyoming County.
