New CEO, Board Member Named at Peoples State Bank
Peoples State Bank recently announced that Anthony Gabello is the bank’s new President and CEO, and Wyalusing business owner Tracy Keeney has been named to the bank’s board of directors.
Gabello was named to the post at the bank’s Aug. 24 meeting and officially took over on Oct. 1.
Former President and CEO Don Abrey is retiring, but will continue to serve the bank as Chairman of the Board.
According to a press release issued by the bank, when Gabello joined the Peoples State Bank team in 2010, he brought with him an extensive banking background. He graduated from Wilkes University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and shortly thereafter obtained his CPA. Prior to joining Peoples State Bank, Gabello served as SVP and Credit Administrator with a bank in the Lackawanna/Luzerne County area. He was responsible for credit risk, underwriting, loan policy development and administration, as well as the secondary market mortgage program.
Gabello’s experience includes serving as a Bank Examiner for the OCC, he managed the Commercial Credit Department and served as Internal Auditor of an area bank and was a Staff Accountant for a local accounting firm.
According to Abrey, “The board feels that Gabello has restructured the loan area since joining Peoples State Bank and set them in a strong position to take advantage of the great market opportunities that lie ahead.”
Tracy Keeney, a Wyalusing native, graduated from Wyalusing Area High School and entered the Army. At the end of his time in the service, Tracy returned to Wyalusing and started B&K Equipment Company, which he has owned and operated for 22 years.
With the introduction of the natural gas exploration in the area, Tracy has seen his business grow as well as the local economy. Abrey feels, “The extensive exposure Keeney has had with the growing gas exploration and production business will provide insight for business development.”
Abrey, a native of the Rochester area, is retiring after 25 years at Peoples State Bank and many years in the banking business prior to coming to PSB. In 1986, he and his family moved to Wyalusing at which time he became president and CEO of Peoples State Bank. Under his direction, Peoples State Bank expanded from their original Wyalusing location to seven offices within Bradford and Sullivan Counties, including seven-day-a-week personal banking available at Route 6, Wysox.
