Oakridge Boys Headline Wyoming County Fair

The Kiwanis Wyoming County Fair will have the Oak Ridge Boys performing as the main entertainment for their 19th Fair. They will perform Sept. 5 at 8 p.m.

The group was formed by Hank Williams as a country and gospel group in Knoxville, TN. The group has produced dozens of country hits, including 12 gold, three platinum and one double platinum album. Popular singer Crystal Marie will perform at 6 p.m. followed by Mike Lewis. Reserved tickets are $10 and may be ordered by calling 836-9992.

Standing room is free to all who have purchased tickets for admission. Tickets for the fair are available at $6 from Robert Parkison, 3 Oak Drive, Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Please send payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Family entertainment daily will be Gizmo D. Robot and illusionists David and Kathie Haimes, who will perform twice each day and the Comedy Safari Show featuring Preston and seven sassy macaws and Mollucan cockatoos on the Midway at various times during each day.

The Junior Fair Queen will be crowned at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. The Fair Queen will be crowned at noon on Sept. 4. Action on the track includes truck pulls, the working farm tractor pull, Super Farm Stock Tracker Smokers, lawn races and horse pulls.

There will be thousands of 4-H, school and agriculture exhibits and shows, along with demonstrations, thrilling midway rides and lots of delicious food. The fair runs from Wednesday, Sept. 1 to Monday, Sept. 6 at the fairgrounds on Route 6, Meshoppen. Admission includes free parking, free rides and free entertainment.
