Roadwork on Section of SR2010 Cause of Detour
Chesapeake Appalachia to Upgrade Section of State Route 2010 in Terry Township, Bradford County; Work Started with Detour.
Motorists in Bradford County are advised that a 4.5-mile section of State Route 2010 (Wyalusing New Albany Road) in Terry Township will be upgraded starting this week. Local traffic access will be maintained while through traffic will be detoured via North Street and Route 187.
The roadway upgrade will take place along Wyalusing New Albany Road from east of Iron Bridge Road to Route 187. The work is expected to be completed by July 15.
Chesapeake has an excess maintenance agreement with PennDOT that states the company’s responsibility for repairing any excess roadway damage as a result of its trucking operations. The company determined it would be more cost-effective in the long run to upgrade these roads to support heavy-truck traffic rather than continue to make repairs.
The company’s road contractor will grind off the existing roadway and its base. The ground material will be mixed with concrete and serve as the new base for the rebuilt roadway. Finally, the contractor will apply six inches of new blacktop
