School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Planned
By Ray Fleming
As has been advertised in the Rocket-Courier, the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Wyalusing Valley Elementary School will take place at the new school on Monday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend and help to officially open the new elementary school.
The process has been a long one, but we now have our building and new opportunities for children to receive an equal and more coordinated education in our district. The staff is very excited about the new environment, with all of the storage, color, brightness and togetherness the school offers. Teachers have been in their rooms unpacking boxes from the previous buildings and organizing themselves for the upcoming school year. The atmosphere is very positive and upbeat, and it is going to be a great start to the next educational era in the Wyalusing Area School District.
The ceremony is scheduled to be held outside by the main lobby, although if the weather is too bad we will move the proceedings inside to the cafeteria and stage area of the new building.
The high school band will also be participating in the event, and several dignitaries will be present to help with the ceremony.
So come and help us celebrate a new beginning for the Wyalusing Area School District. After all the official business is completed, the school will be open for participants to walk through the building, and refreshments will be served in the cafeteria compliments of the Nutrition Group, who will be taking over the food services for the school district.
