Nine Wyalusing Valley High School students were inducted into the Forscht Chapter of the National Honor Society during a candlelight ceremony conducted Wednesday evening, Nov. 16 in the school’s Kenneth S. Williams Auditorium.

Students who are considered for admission into the National Honor Society must have a grade point average of 90 percent or higher, be recommended by faculty and approved by a principal’s council. In addition to high grades, a student’s participation in school activities, their leadership and character are also considered.

The Forscht Chapter is named in honor of Harry Forscht, who was principal of the Laceyville High School from 1916 to 1952.

The induction ceremony was funded in part by the Wyalusing Area Education Association. Loretta Stevens’s Consumer Education students served hors d’oeuvres in the cafeteria prior to the event. Principal Gary Otis offered comments during the ceremony and introduced members of the society.

National Honor Society advisors include Sandra Voegtlen and Mary Sohns.
