Towanda, Tunkhannock, Dushore and Gibson Barracks
A Tunkhannock driver sustained undetermined injuries requiring hospital treatment after he was involved in a one-car accident this week.
Police say on Monday, Aug. 16 at midnight, Tom Robinson was driving a Pontiac Grand Am along Hollowcrest Road in Tunkhannock Township when he lost control of the car and struck a tree.
Robinson was not wearing a seat belt and was life-flighted to CMC in Scranton for treatment. His passenger, Gary Senter, suffered only minor injuries; he also was not wearing a seat belt.
Pickup Truck Stolen and Set Afire
Pennsylvania State Police in Sullivan County are investigating a motor vehicle theft in Cherry Township in which the stolen vehicle was subsequently set on fire near an abandoned strip mine.
It was reported that a 1985 Toyota pickup truck was stolen from the driveway of the victim, Kenneth Finan, of Mildred. It was reported that the pickup truck was then apparently driven along Rt. 487 to a location barely two miles away from the victim's residence. The truck was set on fire at that location, on the property of the White Ash Land Association.
This sequence of events occurred sometime between 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, to 9 a.m. the next morning. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact state police at 570-946-4610.
Burglary, Indecent Assault Alleged
A Tunkhannock man has been charged with burglary and indecent assault.
Police say on April 16 at 3:45 a.m., David Wood entered the residence of a female on Rt. 1001 in Tunkhannock Township. Once inside, Wood allegedly jumped into bed with the woman and started kissing her before he was thrown out of the residence.
Wood was apprehended and placed in custody. He was taken to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of bail.
Prison Inmate Faces Assault Charges
Charges were filed after an alleged assault at the Susquehanna County Prison last week.
Joshua Allen Baker, 18, is accused of assaulting Garret James Yakoski, 24, in his jail cell on Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. Yakoski suffered injuries leading to a trip to Endless Mountains Health System.
Baker is being charged with aggravated assault, assault by prisoner, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Charges were filed with District Justice Watson Dayton.
Motorcyclist Injured near Towanda
A 63-year-old Apalachin, NY, man was treated for injuries incurred on Tuesday, Aug. 17, in a motorcycle accident in Towanda Township.
State police report that injuries to Jeffrey Jones don't appear to be serious after a 9:20 p.m. accident in a road construction area on Rt. 220. They say he was traveling north on Rt. 220 and struck some uneven pavement while attempting to turn onto Rt. 2027. He lost control of his 1993 Kawasaki Concourse cycle and fell. He was transported to Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
Bicycle Stolen from Sheshequin Driveway
A 24-speed bicycle was stolen from the driveway of a residence off Sheshequin Road in Bradford County's Sheshequin Township on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 14.
State police say the theft occurred sometime between 6 and 10:45 a.m., and the victim was Gary Gowan, 46, of Towanda. The bicycle was described as a silver-colored Jamis with a headlight and speedometer.
Suspect Pumps and Runs in Camptown
State police are looking for the driver of a silver Dodge pickup truck that drove off without paying last week after pumping $20 worth of gasoline from the Dandy Mini Market in Camptown.
It was reported that at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, an unknown person committed retail theft by stealing unleaded gasoline. Call 265-2186 with information about this crime.
Elmira Driver Escapes Injury in Crash
Despite damage to his pickup truck described as heavy, state police say an Elmira, NY, man walked away from his wrecked pickup truck Saturday morning in Smithfield Township.
According to the police report of the accident, George A. Mosier, 64. was driving west on the Berwick Turnpike at 11:30 a.m. when his 1986 Ford truck went off the road and into a ditch before striking a tree.
Driver Injured in Sullivan Co. Crash
A 26-year-old Montoursville driver sustained undetermined injuries, none reported to be serious, Sunday, Aug. 15, in a one-car accident on Rt. 42 in Sullivan County's Shrewsbury Township.
State police report that Robert Rupp lost control while negotiating a curve at 4:45 a.m. His 2002 Mazda sedan sustained extensive damage after it crashed into an embankment.
Criminal Mischief Alleged on Paradise Road
A Terry Township resident discovered damage to his car on Friday morning, Aug. 13, apparently administered overnight as it sat in his driveway along Paradise Road.
It is alleged that between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., someone scratched the passenger side of a car belonging to Robert Hoover, 61.
Fire Extinguisher Found near Camptown
State police are asking the owner of a fire extinguisher, found along Rt. 409 in Camptown, to claim the item.
It was reported that the found property was located on Saturday, Aug. 14, shortly after 10 a.m. near the intersection with Rt. 706. The owner may claim it by calling state police at 265-2186 and identifying the item.
ATV Stolen in Susquehanna County
State police in Susquehanna County are investigating a vehicle theft.
They say someone entered a garage belonging to Kurt F. Frye, Arrowhead Lake Road, Silver Lake Township, and removed a green 1998 Yamaha Grizzly 600 on Aug. 11 between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Lawton Youngster Injured in Accident
Peter McGee, IV, age eight, Lawton, was riding a bicycle and made a wide turn into the Elk Lake School parking lot and struck a 2001 Dodge Dakota operated by Lee K. Stang, 46, Meshoppen.
McGee fell from the bicycle and sustained a broken wrist. He was treated at Tyler Hospital. No one was cited in this Aug. 13 incident.
Juveniles Suspected in Burglary, Theft
Two juvenile females entered the Blue Ridge Sportsmen's Clubhouse, Township Route 825, New Milford Township, on Aug. 12 between noon and 6 p.m. and removed a case of soda and damaged two tables.
Mower Reported Stolen in Hallstead
Between Aug. 1 and 8, someone removed a new Bolens rear-bagger with high wheels on the rear from Henry Martin's shed at 322 Main St., Hallstead. The mower is green with a 4.5-horsepower engine.
Attempt to Steal Cycle Thwarted
Someone attempted to steal a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle from a garage area belonging to Lynn Bennett, Township Rt. 462, Clifford Township (Susquehanna County).
The suspect fled when Bennett exited the house at 12:45 a.m. on Aug. 2.
Driver Uninjured in Collision
Brandon Barlow lost control of a 1988 Dodge pickup on Aug. 12 on muddy Township Route 493, Gibson Township, and struck a stone wall and a telephone pole.
No injuries were noted in the report.
