Tina Marie Clapper, 44, Laceyville RR3, faces charges for high rate DUI, careless driving, open container, and driving while her license was DUI suspended. A state police operating a marked vehicle was driving home when he got behind Clapper, who was traveling east into Wyalusing. He observed her crossing the center lines three times and parked her in at the Dandy Mini Mart on Route 6, where the defendant had stopped for coffee. After detecting a strong odor of alcohol on her person, the trooper took her driver’s license and ran a check on it while Clapper went inside the store to purchase coffee. When he discovered that her driving privileges were suspended for a previous DUI, the officer called another state trooper and asked him to complete the arrest. The reporting officer noted that the defendant admitted to drinking three beers, and a subsequent PBT test revealed a BAC of .174. Clapper was placed under arrest and taken to Towanda Memorial Hospital, where a blood test was conducted that indicated a BAC of .207. A preliminary hearing has been set for Aug. 24.
