Jane Sharon McCann, 54, Wyalusing, faces charges for resisting arrest, retail theft, and receiving stolen property from an incident dated Oct. 5 at about 9:40 a.m. Police allege that McCann entered the Dandy Mini Mart on State Street in Wyalusing and removed several packs of cigars from the store. Surveillance video reportedly shows McCann taking several packages and stuffing them into her waistband and jacket pockets, stepping away from the counter when the cashier returns, then helping herself to more when the cashier again walks away. When police interviewed McCann at Smith’s Personal Care Home, she allegedly became very irate and uncooperative and tried to run from the office. According to the report, she flailed her arms when the officer attempted to put handcuffs on her, kicked him several times, and spit at him while she was under transport to Towanda. McCann faces a Nov. 22 preliminary hearing.
Henry Lee Bailey, Jr., 33, Rome, faces charges for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia from an arrest dated Aug. 30. Police responded to a domestic dispute in Harts Trailer Court at about 11:10 p.m. on that date. Bailey answered the door and apparently told the officer that everything there was OK. The patrolman was alone, so he “secured” Bailey for safety reasons and performed a “Terri frisk,” which indicated a hard object in Bailey’s pants pocket that the reporting officer assumed was a pocketknife. He allegedly fished a knife out of Bailey’s pocket, as well as a packet of synthetic marijuana, a pipe with burnt edges, and a pack of rolling papers. The patrolman had placed Bailey in his patrol car already, when he made contact with Kylene Kay Reeves, who indicated that she and Bailey had been engaged in a verbal dispute. Bailey’s preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 22.
