Those railroad companies which have made experiments in heating passenger cars with steam admit now that they have been surprised to find the plan so simple, so feasible and so inexpensive. It is to be regretted that they did not make this discovery at an earlier date, and thus prevent so much needless slaughter.
Mr. Edison's latest invention is the pyro-magnetic dynamo, a machine for producing electricity directly from fuel. If this invention turns out as satisfactorily as Mr. Edison expects, every house can be lighted by electricity by simply utilizing the waste heat in stoves and furnaces.
Roller skating rinks have been reopened in several places and are nearly as well patronized as when the craze for roller skating was at its height two years ago. We need some amusement for the winter, and as we have one of the best rinks in this country, why not have it running?
A.C. Hammerly of Camptown, has made up the first of this week 350 barrels of cider this season. The cider is an excellent quality and he is charging but one cent per gallon for making it.
