Spring Musical 30 Years Ago

Here's a look at the students playing leading roles in the Wyalusing Valley High School's 1981 production of the musical comedy How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The show debuted on March 12 and this photo appeared on the front of the Rocket-Courier on the same date. Those pictured include: (left to right) Leah Brigham, Robert Laukaitis and Tammy Hiduk. Compared to today's coverage of school plays which includes color photo pages and online galleries and videos, coverage in 1981 was scant and included only this photo, which, of course, was published in black and white.

News items of timely interest gathered from the old files of The WYALUSING ROCKET and reprinted as they were in the March 19, 1981 issue.

Two Wyalusing Valley High School students were selected to participate in Region II All-State Orchestra. They are Duane Smith and Joyce Magann.

Candy Benscoter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Benscoter of Laceyville, has been accepted at the Mercedian School of Practical Nursing.

Dorothy Bennett was named to succeed Bob Cerniglia as secretary of the Wyalusing Valley Museum Association.

Air Force Sergeant Max Poetschan, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Poetschan of RR2, Wyalusing, has participated in Global Shield 81, the Strategic Air Command's response to a simulated attack on the U.S.

Harry and Jeannie Mader of Wyalusing RD are proud to announce the birth of a daughter, Vicki Lynn, born at Towanda Memorial Hospital.

Member Appreciation Day and Open House at Laceyville Agway on Wednesday, March 25, lunch served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
