News items of timely interest gathered from the old files of The WYALUSING ROCKET and reprinted as they were in the May 14, 1981 issue.

The Wyalusing Borough Council race is the hottest one on the local ballot. Four Republicans are on the ballot: Norman Huffman, Thomas Couch, Dennis T. Keeney and David Behrend.

Members of Wyalusing Fire Company responded to a fire that broke out in the basement of the Edgefield Court Motel. The fire was caused by an electrical problem.

Joyce Magann, 17, and a senior at Wyalusing Valley High School, has been awarded a scholarship from the American Association of University Women, Towanda Chapter

      Neil Coy and Alan Barrows win league track title in the Northern Tier League.

Leonard and Nancy Miller Traver of Lovelton won $5,500 in a “Million Dollar Adventure” conducted by a church in Great Bend.

Jackie Tokach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tokach of RD2, Laceyville, is a cum laude graduate of Central Pennsylvania Business School in Summerdale.
