Concerns About Water for Campers

To the Editor:

I enjoyed your series article “Sullivan County Shares Skepticism Over Drilling.” Moving from Wyalusing to Lopez has been like night and day, with not much drilling (in Sullivan County) but some truck traffic.

A very good question to ask or a concern to investigate  in  the area of Colley Township is the water issue. Water is a huge resource, with many open springs providing water to local residents, campers and vacationers.

Will the state mandate that the gas companies routinely test these springs where people go to fill their drinking water containers? I know of four such springs that are open to the public that provide clean spring water.

Thank you,

Paul Hails
