Letter-Writer Thanks Community
When I placed that letter last week in the Rocket-Courier, I could not have foreseen what was about to happen. The phone calls from complete strangers telling me about things that have happened to their child or grandchildren while attending our local school, the multiple thank yous I received for bringing it out in the open both in the paper and on Facebook, and the apologies to my son from local people (none being from the school) for the hard time he has had were all heartfelt.
I personally urge those parents with children having problems with bullying from another child or from school staff to speak out. Things will not change with everyone remaining silent. If I could turn back time, I would have spoken out starting three years ago when my oldest was still in school and having issues. My suggestion would be to document everything that is said and/or done, dated accordingly, sending emails to all the school board members and staff members involved for each incident for proof. Then and only then will you have a fighting chance and keep things from being swept under a rug.
I would like to thank everyone on my son’s behalf for the good luck wishes and support from this great community. My son will do great in cyber school and is eager about getting started.
