Likes Way I See It Column

Dear Editor,

Your article in the Way I See It column was a great one. It is about time someone took a look at the issue with the Jake Brakes that has become a problem in our rural towns and/or communities.

I’m one of those who hates that sound of those tractor and trailer brakes. I live on a dirt road in Herrick Township. at whom folks were looking into providing a noise ordinance in the township a few years back, but it did not fly.

I often listen to this ungrateful sound on a day-to-day basis because I live next to a stone quarry. You can hear them miles away. You can never sleep in, there is no such thing around my place. It is a common problem.

The trucks come in anywhere from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. at night. I can complain to the quarry owner, but what good is that going to do? This issue should be looked at more closely. Congratulations for the town of Wyalusing, on getting this ordinance passed.

Bonny Sutton

Herrick Twp.
