Veteran? You May Be Eligible for Pay
The military has been trying to locate tens of thousands of veterans who may be eligible for $500 for every month they were involuntarily extended beyond their normal dates of separation. The average payment has been almost $4,000, and the deadline to submit has already been extended several times. Right now the new deadline is March 18.
Most servicemembers, veterans and beneficiaries of servicemembers whose service was involuntarily extended under Stop Loss between 9-11 and Sept. 30, 2009, are eligible. The VFW asks that you forward this information to everyone you know. To apply, go to http://www.defense.gov/home/features/2010/0710_stoploss/.
