Mrs. Anna M. Brown, of 435 Scottsville Rd., Mehoopany, PA passed away at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 3, 2011, surrounded by her family. Anna would have celebrated her 80th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 6. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, the daughter of the late James E. and Effie Mae Dreidel Eddy, and spent most of her younger years in the Wilkes-Barre area, where she attended school.
After being married to her husband, Kenneth B. Brown, they moved to their home on the Scottsville Road, where they raised their family on the family farm. Anna and Kenneth would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary on Sept. 4.
She was a member of the Mehoopany Baptist Church, a member of the Retta Red Hat Club, and a past member of the Indian Hill Birthday Club.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth B. Brown; her children, Gary W. Brown, Karen and her husband, Michael Ciprich and Terry and his wife, Phyllis Brown, all of Scottsville Road, and Lynne Brown of Dushore; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth Simmonette, of Dallas and Shirley and her husband, Charles Reisser of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Tracy Brown on April 2, 1988 and Todd Ciprich, on Jan. 26, 2005; two brothers, James Eddy, Jr. and Jack Eddy and a sister, Marian Brown.
Funeral services will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville on Monday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joseph Billingsley of the Mehoopany Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the North Flat Cemetery in Laceyville.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.
