Charles McIntire, 36
Surrounded by family and devoted friends, Charles McIntire passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY from injuries suffered in a traffic accident two weeks earlier.
Born on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1974 in Warner Robons, GA, he was the son of Susan Vrooman, Mansfield and Charles McIntire of Storm Lake IA.
A graduate of Southside High School, Elmira, NY in 1993, he was a volunteer at the Pine City Food Bank. He loved being with family and friends.
Survivors include his beloved daughter, Cora Ann McIntire of Erin, NY; his former wife, Dawn McIntire of Erin, NY; his parents, Susan C. Vrooman, Mansfield and Charles McIntire of Storm Lake, IA; his sister and husband, Katrina and Paul Jenkins, their children, Shane, Shannon and Paul of Elmira; his maternal grandmother, Peggy Huffman of Wyalusing; his paternal grandparents, several aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles is also survived by his very special friends, Jamie and Kristen Clark of Elmira, who were there for him to the very end.
Services were held on Thursday, May 5 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Elmira. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Scotchtown Cemetery, Erin, NY.
In death Charlie gave the ultimate gift, by donating his organs so that others may live.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful doctors, nurses and all other staff at Strong Memorial Hospital that gave care, kindness and compassion to Charlie and his family.
