Frances M. Folta, 47,
Frances M. Folta, 47, of 1200 Vandervort Rd., Laceyville, PA (Indian Hill), passed away at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore on Friday evening, June 10, 2011, with her family at her bedside.
She was born in Red Bud, IL, on Dec. 31, 1963, the daughter of Celestine F. Weber Cozean of Red Bud, IL and the late Harold J. Cozean, who passed away on July 23, 2001. Growing up in Red Bud, Fran graduated from the Red Bud High School, Class of 1981. After high school, she served her country with the U.S. Army from 1981 until 1988, where she was stationed in Germany, and stateside in Ft. Lewis, Washington. While Fran was in the service, she met her husband, John W. Folta, whom she married on May 24,1987.
After returning to Vandalia, IL, following the service, she was the owner and operator of Fran’s Skateland in Vandalia. After moving to the Laceyville area, Fran was an over-the-road truck driver, driving for Penn’s Best Trucking of Meshoppen for over five years, until ill health forced her to retire.
In her spare time, she cherished her property on Indian Hill, where she loved to fish in her family pond. She would have liked to have been a better gardener, but always had her family’s property looking its finest, and loved to be surrounded by her dogs.
Besides her mother, Fran is survived by her husband of 24 years, John W. Folta of Laceyville; her daughter, Jessika N. and her husband, C.J. Schilling of Vandalia, IL; her son, Joshua R. Folta and his girlfriend, Jessica Ely of Laceyville. Fran was also looking forward to the arrival of her first grandchild, due in December. She is also survived by a brother, Dale Cozean of Red Bud, IL; five sisters, Nannette (Mike) Klinkhardt of Red Bud, IL; Marcia (Wayne) Thompson of Salem, IL, Lou Ann (Rick) Liefer of Red Bud, IL, Pam Fitch of Fulton, Missouri and Maggie (Gerald) Buch of Steeleville, IL, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by a brother Frank Cozean, on Dec. 15, 2006; a nephew, Terry Klinkhardt, on Jan. 1, 2002, and her in-laws, John and Jeanne Sherwood Folta.
At the wishes of Fran, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donation in Fran’s name to the Over the Hill Gang Relay for Life Team, c/o 1822 Shumway Rd., Wyalusing, PA 18853.
