Gerald F. Vanderpool, 77
Gerald F. Vanderpool, 77 of Standing Stone, PA passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Born on Aug. 22, 1933 in Asylum Twp., he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret God Vanderpool. He attended Wyalusing High School and in early years was employed by Herman Rynveld Sons in New Albany and Athens, the Towanda Wholesale Company and Rynone Industries in Waverly, NY. He was later employed by the Pennsylvania Dept of Transportation in Towanda and by Rolling Acres in Wysox.
Mr. Vanderpool enjoyed camping at Brenchley’s Lake for over 40 years, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Decker Vanderpool, at home; children, Bonnie Allen of Powell, Thomas Douglas and wife Connie of Stevensville, Richard Douglas of Waverly; a sister, Lillian Croft of Spring Lake; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son LaVerne P. Douglas.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with the Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Interment followed in the Camptown Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
