Gladys Jones Yarasavage, 88,
Gladys Jones Yarasavage, 88, of Tunkhannock, PA died Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, 2011 at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward Yarasavage.
Born in Osterhout on July 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Garfield and Ina Inman Jones. She was a graduate of the Falls-Overfield High School, Class of 1941. After high school, she moved to NYC where she worked during WWII before returning to the Tunkhannock area where she met her husband, Ed. They were married April 15, 1950.
Mrs. Yarasavage loved to travel, both here and abroad for many years. She enjoyed spending time between her home in Tunkhannock and her second home in Myrtle Beach. She loved reading, doing puzzles and watching game shows. Gladys was a wonderful grandmother and spent many hours playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. She passed away from a lengthy illness and now is pain free and with the Lord.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank Patsy Robinson, Joyce Mattocks and Sonya Ross-White and Dr. Dennis Mattei for their care and compassion during her illness.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Yarasavage
Surviving are her children, Dale and wife, Donna of Tunkhannock, William and wife, Marina of Tunkhannock, Patty Nelson and husband, Bob of Charlotte, NC, John of Bellefonte and Jan Cadwallader and husband, K.C. of Ft. Mill, SC; nine grandchildren, Kelly Maher, Cassie Yarasavage, Angi Yarasavage, Nathan Yarasavage, Love Tyler, Alex Nelson, Paige Nelson, Amy Cadwallader and Wesley Cadwallader and two great-granddaughters, Kora and Ella Tyler.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Route 6 West, Tunkhannock, with Pastor Murray Brindle. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends called at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
