Harold D. Cory Sr., 64
Harold D. Cory Sr., 64 of 11631 Route 220, Towanda, (Monroe Twp.), PA passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at his summer home in Wyalusing Twp. Born in Sayre on Dec. 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Harold James Cory and June Rose Gowin Cory.
In early years, Harold was employed by Penn Lines Trucking Company of Scottsdale, PA and Henckle McCoy of York, PA. He was later employed by the Commonwealth Telephone Company, which later became Frontier Communications until his retirement in June of 2011. Harold’s life revolved around his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, hunting and being outdoors.
Mr. Cory was a man of many talents, especially motor mechanics and eagerly shared his knowledge with others. He enjoyed NASCAR, NHRA, racing and riding motorcycle especially charity rides where he served as road captain. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Jo Haight Cory at home; children, Jennifer McGuinness of Towanda, Harold David Cory, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Towanda, Amy Cole and husband, Kenneth Cole of Ulster; grandchildren, Amanda Schaad, Bryan McGuinness, Christopher McGuinness, Garrett Cory, Angela Cory, Colton Cory, Kenneth Cole and Ethan Cole; step-grandchildren, Cassandra Farmer and Gaige Brow; great-grandchildren, Damen Daugherty and Audriana Strope; brother, Kevin James Cory of Towanda; sister, Helen L. Hand and husband, Eugene of Marlboro, NY; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold James Cory on Oct. 29, 1999; mother, June Rose Gowin Cory on May 27, 2009; special aunts and uncle, Florence Cory, Almeda Kinner and Joe Kinner.
The funeral and committal service was held Monday, July 25 at 7 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda.
The family received friends Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
